My primary artistic focus is on thrown functional stoneware. While I enjoy experimenting with hand-built ware, there is a distinct joy I find in wheel throwing; nothing brings me satisfaction quite like a nicely shaped bowl anchored by a proper foot. My design philosophy is rooted in utility. While my earliest pieces were formed from delicate porcelain, I have come to deeply admire the structural integrity and durability that stoneware provides. I create vessels meant to be used—to serve as the “workhorses” of the home or to be displayed with the proud intention that they will be.

Ceramics offers an endless, dual-sided exploration of art and science. Having fired across electric, gas, and wood kilns, I am continually humbled by how much remains to be discovered, particularly within atmospheric gas and wood firings. Clay is a lifelong teacher, and whether I am behind the wheel in my own studio or guiding a student through the basics at the co-op, I create to celebrate the lifelong rhythm of learning, testing boundaries, and crafting beauty meant for daily life.
