About

This Studio Tour was created in 2017 by Ceramic Artists interested in organizing a weekend tour for the public to learn and appreciate pottery and ceramic sculpture

The artists are a small group of dedicated craftspeople who excel in their craft and demonstrate proficiency in both sculpture and functional ceramics. These artists are enthusiastic in sharing their methods and work spaces.

This tour is an anticipated autumn event for attendees, but has also become a platform for connecting ceramic artists and providing a support venue for the ceramic community at large.

A wonderful outcome of the tour has been the social aspect. People come and picnic on the grass, stroll the artist gardens, and talk with the artists, their neighbors, and other clay enthusiasts. An interesting anecdote happened during the first-year tour, as two established artists from host studios, living only five miles apart, met for the first time.

The Cracked Pot Studio Tour is a Michigan not-for-profit organization run by a volunteer board of directors.

The Cracked Pot Studio Tour has enjoyed the continuous and generous support of Runyan Pottery Supply, AMACO Ceramic Supply, and the Arts Council of Greater Lansing.

MISSION STATEMENT

To benefit the people of Greater Lansing, Michigan by promoting the cultivation of the ceramic arts through promoting, organizing, managing and supporting endeavors to further enhance and finance artistic expression and appreciation.
