I have always enjoyed utilizing alternative firing methods but after many years of experimentation, have come to prefer making horse hair pots with porcelain as well as terracotta clays. I love the sense of movement the dark linear lines convey as well as the spontaneous effects of smoke clouds on the burnished clay surface. Finishing my pots with a wax sealant retains that earthy, natural appearance that I want to convey. I draw inspiration for my forms from traditional southwest Native American pottery.
