Beth is a longtime potter who works out of her home studio in southern Michigan. Previously a pastel artist, painter and sculptor, she gravitated toward ceramics over 20 years ago. Her experience in clay stems from years of studio classes and attending numerous professional workshops. Beth is an award winning artist. She is a member of the Shiawassee Art Center in Owosso, Michigan where her work is represented. She is also an active member in the Jackson Pottery and Clay Guild and sells her pottery through local guild sales. Each year in September Beth participates in The Cracked Pot Pottery Tour.
Throughout my life I have loved to paint. When I discovered the fun and creativity of making pottery, I saw the clay as a three-dimensional canvas—a way to merge my passion for both painting and ceramics. My original works include carved, watercolor florals and abstract patterns on a slightly contemporary form, with simple clean lines that enhance my painted designs. I make pottery to be functional but also to be looked at and enjoyed as art. My intention as a ceramic artist is to create beautiful, functional pieces that bring joy to your everyday life.
